Deep Purple To Release 40th Anniversary Machine Head Package

Deep Purple has announced the release of a 4-CD/1-DVD version of their classic 1972 album Machine Head in celebration of the album’s 40th anniversary.

Machine Head is acknowledged as one of the most important albums in the development of English hard rock music and contains such classics as Smoke on the Water, Highway Star and Space Truckin’. The original release reached number 7 while the single of Smoke went to number 4.

The discs contain a variety of original and newly restored material:

  • Disc 1 – The original remastered album.
  • Disc 2 – The 1997 version of the album as remixed by Roger Glover.
  • Disc 3 – The remastered Quad SQ Stereo mix of the album.
  • Disc 4 – In Concert ’72 from the March 9, 1972 show at the Paris Theatre, London.
  • Disc 5 (DVD) – High resolution remaster and surround mix.
In addition, there will be essays from Glover and Mojo magazine writer Phil Alexander, fan quotations and an interview with photographer Didi Zill.
