Demi Lovato Enters Rehab

Demi Lovato has entered an in-patient rehabilitation facility as part of her ongoing recovery from a suspected drug overdose.

Demi Lovato had been under doctors’ care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles ever since she was hospitalised on 24 July (18), but the singer has now been discharged, and is said to be working on regaining her sobriety at a specialised treatment clinic.

“Demi left the hospital over the weekend. She will get continued care at an in-patient rehab facility,” a source tells People.com.

“At the hospital, she was surrounded by family and friends that support her sobriety. They all want Demi to be the best she can. Demi is surrounded by a lot of love. She has people in her life that really care. She has a long journey ahead, but with all the love, her journey could absolutely be a positive one.”

The news emerges hours after the pop star, 25, broke her silence about the health scare in her first personal statement, in which she vowed to “keep fighting” as she thanked family, friends, fans, and medical staff for their support during the tough time.

“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction,” Demi wrote in a message on Instagram on Sunday.

“What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”

She went on to explain that she will be taking some time to focus on her sobriety and “road to recovery”, adding: “The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”

Fans and peers were quick to embrace Demi’s statement, with stars including Jennifer Lopez, Macklemore, Sam Smith, Paris Hilton, and Luis Fonsi all sharing their love and encouragement for the singer.

Demi had been sober for six years before confessing she had relapsed in the candid lyrics to her most recent single, Sober.
