Doctor Tells Cher She Has The Vocal Chords Of A 28 Year Old

Cher’s doctor has told the singer that she has the vocal chords of a 28 year old.

Cher was being interviewed by Harry Smith for NBC when the conversation went to working in your 70s. “My doctor said “you have the vocal chords of a 28 year old”. It’s freaky,” Cher said. “I am the last person who thinks I should be singing now. If you had of asked me ‘will you be singing at 72’, I wouldn’t have thought I’d even be here”.

Part of her busy schedule was her recent appearance in ‘Mamma Mia II’. She was told to do it. Cher said her friend Ron Myer rang her and said “you can going to do Mamma Mia II and then he hung up. He is the only person who have done it. I didn’t have the nerve to call him back”.

While she doesn’t sing much in the movie it started the idea of doing a complete Abba album. “I sing the beginning of Super Trooper and Fernando. I thought this could be fun and I like the songs and they are more complicated and more difficult to sing. Benny thought it was a good idea. They liked Fernando a lot so we just tried it. The first song we did was ‘One of Us’. ‘One of Us’ then ‘Chiquitta’”.

When she started work on the record her friends advised her about two songs. She ignored the advice. “People told me not to do ‘Waterloo’ and ‘Mamma Mia’. I said I have to because I saw Muriel’s Wedding and that made me a huge Abba fan,” she said.

As for how long she will continue to work, “When the world comes to an end there will only be cockroaches and Cher,” she said.

Cher will tour Australia for Live Nation.
