Sir Elton John will perform in Hobart for the first time in 27 years on his upcoming Australian tour.

For the first time, Elton is bypassing the major cities to go to places he has never or rarely played. Mackay, Cairns and Wollongong were announced earlier this week.

“I played in Hobart twenty-seven years ago… which I admit is far too long,” Sir Elton said in a statement. “I simply cannot wait to return to Tasmania and its wonderful audiences. My band and I are really looking forward to being in Australia this September – I love coming back.”

Elton John Australian tour dates

MACKAY, Friday 22 September – BB Print Stadium
WOLLONGONG, Sunday 24 September – WIN Stadium
HOBART, Wednesday 27 September – Derwent Entertainment Centre
CAIRNS, Saturday 30 September – Cazaly’s Stadium
