Foo Fighters Bring In Pops Biggest For New Album

Foo Fighters’ new album will feature a rumoured collaboration with Adele and some of pop’s biggest names.

The band began recording their forthcoming album Concrete and Gold in December last year (16) at Los Angeles’ EastWest Studios, and asked pop megastars who were dropping into the studio to record vocals.

“You might have Shania Twain having a record-release party, or the guy from Deep Purple hanging out with Jason Bonham, or Justin Timberlake would be in for a couple of weeks, or Lady Gaga working with these other cats from Nashville,” Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl told Britain’s NME magazine.

“And every so often we’d be like, ‘Hey, wanna come sing some backing vocals?’ and they’d just fucking do it. It was loose and random: everyone was hanging out, drinking whiskey, having a good time. I never went to college, but it’s what I imagine a dormitory’s like.”

Adele is rumoured to appear on the album, a report Grohl remained tight-lipped about.

The All My Life rockers played a triumphant headline set at the Glastonbury festival last Saturday (25Jun17), two years after they were forced to pull out after Grohl broke his leg.

The singer and guitarist considers the delay to be a blessing in disguise however as it gave him time to process just how big a gig playing Glastonbury is.

“When we spoke to you (NME magazine) two years ago, we didn’t realise the immensity of headlining this festival,” Grohl revealed. “We just didn’t.”

Foo Fighters also have another very special gig planned for next month (Jul17), as on 10 July (17) they will perform on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece on 10 July (17) next to iconic Ancient Greek temple the Parthenon.

The show will be filmed by director Daniel E. Catullo for his U.S. documentary series Landmarks Live In Concert, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, who presents the series, will interview the band.

Concrete and Gold is released in September (17).
