Foo Fighters Confirm Sonic Highways 2

The Foo Fighters were so happy with their series Sonic Highways that they are going to do some more.

Sonic Highways was both the group’s last album and a documentary series based on the recording process where the band went to eight different cities, each with a strong music heritage, for song inspirations and returned to record the resulting track in a local studio with musicians associated with the city.

Last week, band member Chris Shiflett posted a picture of a plane with Sonic Highways written on the side. While it didn’t specifically say that more was coming, Dave Grohl confirmed it to Britain’s NME.

Grohl told the site that the location for series two very well could be England. “It might or might not be international. It might someday be international. It might only be England, or be England and other places, or maybe it’s places in America and people from other countries that are inspired by these places in America.

“The great thing about the idea, the concept of the project, is that it can be anywhere because every city has some sort of musical history, but I don’t know. Of all places in the world England and the UK just seems like it would be shooting fish in a barrel. There’s just so fucking much here.”

Grohl, who was originally in Nirvana before forming the Foo Fighters, also has a unique interest in the history of music. Along with Sonic Highway, he also made the acclaimed documentary Sound City about the recording studio in Van Nuys, CA.

Here is an excerpt from the interview:
