The Hunter Valley will play host to Australia’s newest arts festival, the Dungog Festival in August.

The Dungog Festival will feature movies, music and community events with a film festival for short films from Australia and international included at the event.

“We look forward to inviting thousands of visitors to share great film, food, wine and live entertainment with us, amidst the fresh air and beauty of the Upper Hunter Valley,” Chair of the Dungog Arts Foundation, Martin Addison said in a statement.

The festival has three years of funding and will be owned and operated by the people of Dungog. “Dungog has a strong reputation for outstanding destination festivals and we intend to continue that reputation with the new Dungog Festival,” he added. :A world-class cinema program is just the beginning, with a full four days of events and activities supporting the film program and encouraging visitors to explore and enjoy the local culture and countryside.”

Submissions are now being taken for the film program at dungogfestival.com.au

The first Dungog Festival will be held from August 28 to 31, 2014.
