Jimmy Barnes has become a prize-winning author after picking up the prestigious ABIA Award for Biography of the Year for ‘Working Class Boy’.

‘Working Class Boy’ tells the story of Barnes’ childhood as an immigrant in Adelaide leading up to forming his first band in his teenage years.

At The ABIA Awards, Barnes announced that the sequel ‘Working Class Man’, will be released this year.

‘Working Class Man’ will pick up where ‘Working Class Boy’ finished, with Barnes leaving Adelaide to start life as a musician with his new band Cold Chisel.

‘In some ways my new book is probably more like the one people were expecting the first time around,” Jimmy said in a statement. “There’ll be lot more rock’n’roll in it but there are still a few surprises in there too. I’ve lived a pretty big life so it’s taking me two volumes to tell the story.’

‘We are incredibly proud of the immense success of Working Class Boy, but we always knew it was only half the story – Working Class Man lifts the lid on one of the most extraordinary rock’n’roll careers in Australian music history. Brace yourselves,’ said James Kellow, CEO of HarperCollins.

‘Working Class Boy’ will be released on paperback on July 31. ‘Working Class Man’ will be released on October 23, 2017.
