The Imagine Peace Tower is a beam of light shooting 4000 metres into the air. It is located on Vioey Island in Kollafjorour Bay bear Reykjavik, Iceland.

Yoko officially switched the tower of light on for the first time in 2007 on John’s birthday on October 9th. It projects from a base with the words ‘Imagine Peace’.

The tower is lit every year from October 9, John’s birthday until December 8, the anniversary of John’s death.

In a statement this year she says, “I hope the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER will give light to the
strong wishes of World Peace from all corners of the planet
and give encouragement, inspiration and a sense of solidarity
in a world now filled with fear and confusion”.

“Let us come together to realise a peaceful world”.

The Imagine Peace tower will be switched back on at 8pm October 9 Iceland. In other time-zones that is 9pm London, 4pm New York, 1pm Los Angeles and Monday October 10 at 7am East Coast Australia daylight savings time.
