Mark Sholtez has returned with his first album five years via Robert Rigby’s Ambition Records label.

Mark’s third album ‘The Edge of the Known World’ hones in on the singer songwriter era of Southern California that in its day was the breeding ground for artists like Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, the Mamas and the Papas and The Byrds.

The first Mark Sholtez ‘Real Street’ earned Mark an ARIA Award nomination and an APRA Award win for ‘Most Performed Jazz Work’. The recorded the album in new York with Grammy Award winning producer Tommy LiPuma. The second album ‘The Distance Between Two Truths’ was recorded with Larry Klein.

Mark Sholtez The Edge of the Known World“I have been fortunate enough over the course of my career to work with some incredibly talented and generous people, including two of the most amazing producers, Tommy LiPuma and Larry Klein,” Mark said in a statement. “Almost everything I know about making records I learned from my experiences working in the studio with these two gentlemen. In their own ways, both have a wonderful ability to balance attention to detail with the preservation of imperfection. This has had a huge effect on my own practice as a producer. I remember LiPuma saying to me, “if it feels good it’s good”.

‘The Edge of the Known World’ is available now through Ambition Records.
