Hawaiian singer-songwriter Fia joins Paul Cashmere on Noise11 to talk about his long-awaited debut album Never Give Up., the personal stories behind some of his biggest songs and why he almost walked away from music completely.

In this Noise11 interview, Fia reveals that Never Give Up. was delayed by life circumstances and his belief that the record arrived exactly when it was meant to. He also discusses the deeply personal origins of ‘Love Me’, a song originally written for himself and his wife that he never intended to release. Encouraged by friends, the song eventually became one of the defining recordings of his career and helped introduce his music to audiences around the world.

Fia also opens up about the influences that shaped his unique blend of R&B, island reggae and gospel music. He cites artists including Chris Brown, Calvin Richardson, Stevie Wonder and Luther Vandross, while explaining how growing up in church and being part of the choir developed both his voice and his songwriting perspective.

The interview also explores the stories behind songs such as ‘Fly Away’, written for the woman who would become his wife during a difficult period in both of their lives, and ‘Be Better’, an inspirational anthem born during the challenges of the COVID era.
