Mary J Blige’s Husband Wants $170k A Month In Alimony

Mary J. Blige’s estranged husband has filed for temporary spousal support as the couple thrashes out its divorce.

Kendu Isaacs is asking a judge to award him almost $AUD170,000 a month from the R&B star so he can live life as he did when he was married to the Family Affair singer.

Isaacs, who also managed Mary’s career, claims he has zero income since she fired him shortly after she filed for divorce earlier this year (16).

He’s not exactly penniless, revealing in documents obtained by TMZ that his soon-to-be ex-wife has already cut him cheques amounting to £70,000.

Kendu responded to Mary’s divorce petition recently and called for his estranged wife to cover his lawyer’s fees.

The estranged couple had been married for 12 years before the July (16) divorce announcement.

Meanwhile, Mary has been focusing on her music since the split. She kicked off her King and Queen of Hearts Tour with Maxwell in Zurich, Switzerland last Thursday (13Oct16), before heading to Frankfurt, Germany on Saturday (15Oct16).

They have since also performed in Paris and Brussels, and will take in upcoming shows in Stockholm, Amsterdam, London, and Manchester, England, before wrapping up the tour in America with a run of shows that begin in Baltimore, Maryland on 5 November (16).

The soulful stars announced the joint trek last month (Sep16), when Blige gushed, “Maxwell is a man that we need as women. He sings from his heart and soul with an amazing voice.

“When you hear him, you feel comforted, good, sexy, sly. You feel like you want to go out with your girls and then you also feel like you want to lay up with your man. He just gives you that freedom as a woman to be all those sexy, empowering and beautiful things. Women need to feel like there’s some man out there that really cares and will speak to them through song.”

Maxwell and Mary are also working together in the studio on a new song for her next album.
