Matchbox Twenty’s now classic debut ‘Yourself Or Someone Like You’ turned 20 years old this weekend.

‘Yourself Or Someone Like You was released on 1 October 2016. The album sold over 12 million copies in the USA alone, another 560,000 in Australia and reached no 1 in Australia and no 5 in the USA yet the English somehow managed to miss it.

The centerpiece of the Matchbox Twenty debut was the hit song ‘Push’.

‘Push’ started a string of hits off the album ‘3.A.M.’, ‘Real World’, ‘Back 2 Good’ and then the first single that slipped past without notice ‘Long Day’ gathered new momentum.

“Congrats to my former bandmates and all the people that supported us for all these years!! Today is the 20th anniversary of “YOSLY”,” a proud Adam Gaynor said in a Facebook post.

Rising Festival, Beth Gibbons, Hamer Hall 1st June 2025 #REVIEW

The blue-coloured- light drenched the stage, signifying the trademark colour of Rising. Beth Gibbons is here as part of Rising festival to showcase her solo album, Lives Outgrown, with a seven- piece band of musicians. Gibbons last toured Melbourne 15 years ago with proponents of trip hop, Portishead, appearing at Harvest Festival. There she was bathed in the golden afternoon rays of sunlight, but now she’s obscured by stage lights in alternating hues. Her musicians are backlit and positioned either side of the stage in groups of three and the keyboardist is in the centre behind Gibbons.
