Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine has aborted an upcoming documentary of her son that was to be funded by fans.

Katherine Jackson has pulled the plug on crowd-funding a documentary about Michael.

The matriarch’s effort to raise $3.2 million for the two-hour project via FundAnything.com was announced on Good Morning America December 16.

But according to the New York Daily News, donors apparently felt ‘misguided’ about the project, and were recently issued full refunds.

A spokesperson for the film provided documents revealing 60 credit card refunds worth more than $2,000 have been completed.

‘She felt this financing route sent the wrong message to fans,’ the spokesperson said.

Producer Kirk Schenck told the publication the movie is still in the works.

However, those behind the project are exploring other funding options.

‘Mrs Jackson’s motive for this project is to present a side of Michael Jackson no one has ever seen. She put a stop to the crowdsourcing financing plan the moment she saw Michael’s fans felt it was misguided,’ Schenck said.

‘She has plenty of other options from international distributors and US television networks.’

Michael Jackson passed away in 2009 after he was administered a lethal dose of the anaesthetic propofol, which he used as a sleep aid. He was 50.

The star’s former physician, Conrad Murray, was convicted for administering the fatal dose. Murray was released from Los Angeles County men’s jail last year after serving half of a four-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter.
