Nelly Cancels UK Tour Over Terrorism Fears

Rapper Nelly has cancelled his mini-tour in the U.K. due to reported terrorism concerns in London.

Nelly was slated to kick off the trek at London’s Koko club on Monday night (14Dec15), but hours before the show, officials at the O2 Ritz Manchester, where he was scheduled to perform on Thursday (17Dec15), announced Nelly had scrapped his entire tour.

A post on their Facebook page reads: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Nelly has been forced to postpone his UK tour. Customers are advised to hold on to their tickets as rescheduled dates will be announced shortly & tickets will remain valid for the new shows. We apologise for any disappointment & inconvenience caused.”

However, an attorney for Nelly tells TMZ.com the singer had “safety concerns relating to venue security preventing terrorist attacks,” adding the shows will be rescheduled.

The tour comes one month after the deadly terror attacks in Paris, where nearly 90 people were killed by armed gunmen who stormed an Eagles of Death Metal concert.

The cancelled dates also come days after Nelly appeared in a court in Tennessee on Friday (11Dec15), when he tried to clear his name following a possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia charge in April (15).

According to TMZ, Nelly’s lawyer argued his client’s clean record qualified him for a pretrial diversion, and the judge overseeing the case agreed, telling the rap star the charges will be wiped from his record if he lives clean for 12 months.
