Liam and Noel Gallagher have appeared together at the Venice International Film Festival ahead of the world premiere of Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger.

Liam and Noel Gallagher have joined Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger creator Steven Knight and directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival ahead of the documentary’s world premiere at the Palazzo del Cinema. The appearance marks Liam and Noel’s first visit to the festival in support of the film, which documents the band’s Oasis Live ’25 reunion tour and opens in IMAX and cinemas across Australia and New Zealand on September 10.
The Venice appearance places the Oasis reunion within an international film festival setting, following the band’s return to live performance after a 16-year separation. Liam and Noel Gallagher’s joint appearance is also significant in the context of the documentary itself, which features their first joint interviews in more than 20 years.
Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger examines the circumstances surrounding the reunion and follows the brothers and the band through rehearsals, backstage activity and performances from Oasis Live ’25. The production also documents the response from audiences around the world as Oasis returned to the stage.
The film has been created by BAFTA and Academy Award-nominated writer, producer and director Steven Knight, whose credits include Peaky Blinders and A Thousand Blows. Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace directed the documentary, following previous music-related projects including Shut Up And Play The Hits and Meet Me In The Bathroom.
The production is by Magna Studios and is presented by Sony Music Vision in association with Sony Music Entertainment UK. Sam Bridger and Guy Heeley are the producers.
The creative and technical team includes cinematographer Haris Zambarloukos, Oscar-winning sound mixers James Mather and Tarn Willers, and editors George Cragg and Martina Zamolo. The production combines newly filmed material with previously unseen footage from the reunion period.
The documentary takes its title from one of Oasis’ most enduring songs, “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, a Noel Gallagher composition that became one of the defining recordings of the band’s 1990s catalogue. The film also places the song within the wider story of the relationship between Liam and Noel and the audience that has remained connected to Oasis music.
Oasis formed in Manchester in the early 1990s and became one of the defining British rock groups of the Britpop period. The combination of Noel Gallagher’s songwriting and Liam Gallagher’s distinctive vocal delivery established the band as an international act, with albums such as Definitely Maybe and (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? becoming major commercial releases.
The catalogue produced songs including “Live Forever”, “Wonderwall”, “Champagne Supernova” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger”. Oasis developed into a major stadium act as the decade progressed, while the increasingly public disagreements between the Gallagher brothers became a central part of the band’s history.
Oasis ended in 2009 after Noel Gallagher departed following a confrontation around the Rock En Seine festival in Paris. Liam and Noel subsequently pursued separate musical careers, with the possibility of a reunion remaining a recurring subject among fans.
That reunion eventually became Oasis Live ’25, bringing the brothers back together for a major international tour in 2025. The concerts introduced the group’s catalogue to audiences who had followed Oasis since the 1990s alongside younger listeners who encountered the music through later generations of recordings and streaming.
The documentary provides a record of that reunion from several perspectives. Alongside concert footage, it focuses on the preparation required to put Oasis back onstage and the relationship between the two brothers after years apart.
Its Venice premiere also reflects the growing role of feature documentaries in documenting major moments in popular music. In this case, the film records not simply a series of concerts but the return of one of Britain’s most recognisable bands and the renewed public relationship between its two principal members.
Following the Venice world premiere, Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger will open in IMAX and selected cinemas across Australia and New Zealand on September 10. The film will subsequently stream exclusively on Disney+ later in 2026.
For Oasis, the documentary provides a cinematic record of the Live ’25 reunion while placing Liam and Noel Gallagher together in front of the cameras again. The Venice appearance adds another chapter to the story of a band whose catalogue continues to connect its original audience with a new generation.
