Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward formed Black Sabbath in Birmingham in 1969.

Campaigners to rename the airport claim that the new name would give the airport and the city a higher profile.

Many airports around the world are named after famous people. There is Louis Armstrong Airport in New Orleans, John Wayne Airport and Bob Hope Airport in California, Mozart Airport in Salzburg and John Lennon Airport in Liverpool.

Birmingham is the second biggest city in Britain after London. It has a population of 1,073,000 in the metropolitan borough and 3,683,000 in metro area.

REVIEW: Black Sabbath O2 Academy Birmingham

It was simply amazing! I have to admit I had low expectations especially of Ozzy and his vocal abilities. But they were super tight and he nailed it, a great frontman even now in his 60s.
