Paul Simon Sued For Money By Man Who Stole From Him

Paul Simon is a victim of the American legal system at its dumbest.

Kenneth Ira Starr was a lawyer and money manager for the stars, counting such names as Al Pacino, Martin Scorsese, Carly Simon, Sylvester Stallone and Paul Simon among his clients. For over a decade, there were signs that his dealings with his clients may have not been ligit and, in May 2010, he was arrested and indicted on 23 counts of fraud and money laundering in a Ponzi scheme that was estimated to be in the area of $35 million.

Starr was eventually convicted to 7.5 years in prison but, just before the sentence was passed, he declared bankruptcy, making it impossible for him to pay back any of the defrauded clients.

According to a new report at TMZ, a trustee in charge of Starr’s finances has uncovered some unpaid bills from when Starr was practicing, including one for $17,174.49 for services provided to Simon. While it is definitely adding insult to injury, the decision has been made sue Simon for the unpaid bill so that Starr’s many creditors can have some chance of recouping their stolen money.

So, Simon, who already lost a great deal of money (possibly in seven figures) to Starr must pay his overdue bill in hopes that he will receive some small portion of whatever the trustee can find in compensation.

God bless America.
