Queen ‘News of The World’ Expanded For 40th Anniversary

Queen will release an expanded 4-disc box set of the ‘News of the World’ to mark the album’s 40th anniversary.

‘News of the World’, the sixth Queen album, was released on 28 October 1977. The album is Queen’s best selling album to date.

‘News of the World’ was a format change for Queen. The previous album ‘A Day At The Races’ was self-produced and often reviewed as “boring”.

For this record the band decided to rock-up and orchestrate less. They brought in Mike Stone to co-produce. They spent two months writing, recording and producing, finishing in September 77 and releasing the album four weeks later.

‘News of the World’ featured ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’. The album reached no 3 in the USA and no 4 in the UK.

The new edition will feature the original album as well as two additional albums of rare and/or unreleased tracks. It will also come with a 40-page book of images.

Queen ‘News of the World’ will be released on 17 November 2017.

Leo Sayer Shares His Thoughts on The Passing of Sly Stone

There really is a riot going on right now, so what a poignant moment it seems to be to lose a hero I never met, yet a man I often imagined as my soul brother. I worked with many of his alumni (including the man who helped invent him, fellow San Fran disk jockey Tom Donahue), and to say they and he inspired me would be a useless understatement.
