Ross Wilson Performs For Daddy Who? The Daddy Cool Biography

Daddy Cool’s legendary lead singer Ross Wilson made a special guest appearance at the launch of the book ‘Daddy Who?’ about his band Daddy Cool in Melbourne Sunday afternoon.

Wilson was joined by his Daddy Cool co-founder Gary Young for a performance at the launch.

Bernie Taupin Honky Chateau Daddy Cool badge‘Daddy Who?’ was written by Craig Horne.

Horne was introduced by Music Victoria CEO Patrick Donovan at the launch at The Channel, at Arts Centre Melbourne. Arts Centre Melbourne is the home of the Australian Music Vault. The launch was an Australian Music Vault activity.

Daddy Cool was one of Australia’s most influential bands of the 70s. The band’s classic ‘Eagle Rock’ became the inspiration for Elton John’s ‘Crocodile Rock’. Elton’s co-writer Bernie Taupin can be seen wearing a Daddy Cool bade on three Elton albums ‘Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player’, ‘Honky Chateau’ and ‘Tumbleweed Connection’.

Ross Wilson, Ross Hannaford, Wayne Duncan and Gary Young formed Daddy Cool in Melbourne, Australia in 1970. Two years and two albums later in 1972 it was all over.

Daddy Cool reformed in 1974 for a year and got together for shows again in 2006. They performed their final show on 19 November 2014 at The Age Music Victoria Awards.

Ross Hannaford died on 8 March 2016. Wayne Duncan died 4 December 2016.
