Shihad To Play 30th Anniversary Dates

Shihad will tour for their 30th anniversary in November.

Jon Toogood and Tom Larkin formed Shihad in New Zealand in 1988. They took the name from the 1984 David Lynch’s use of the word Jihad in his movie ‘Dune’ but after the September 11 attacks, decided best not to be known by that name and changed to Pacifier.

Pacifier also turned out to be a silly name because in the USA they refer to a child’s dummy as a “pacifier”.

The Pacifier name lasted for just one album and in 2005 they reverted back to Shihad.
