Take That are to receive the keys to The O2, after reaching the milestone of 21 performances at the venue.

The record, first established by Prince in 2007, was equalled by the band on the ninth show of a residency of ten.

With their eight sell-out shows in 2008, a New Year’s Eve performance of the same year, a Jingle Bell Ball performance in 2014, appearances at The BRIT Awards in 2011 and again this year and their run of ten shows in June, the band have achieved a staggering 22 performances. The band now hold the record, first established by Prince with his 21-night residency in 2007, for the most performances at the world’s most popular music and entertainment venue.

The key, designed using elements of the band’s latest album artwork, will be housed on the walk to stage at The O2, visible to everyone who performs in future. Presenting the accolade was venue General Manager Rebecca Kane Burton.

Upon receiving their award Take That said: ‘We’ve loved each and every performance at The O2 and this run of ten nights has been particularly special. We’re delighted that so many people have had the chance to see us and this award is for each and every one of them. Thanks to everyone involved in making our performances what they are and of course to The O2 team for the key to the venue, it means a lot. ‘
