On Wednesday, the band had stated on their website that their new show was “filled with 23 songs, some of which have never been played live before.” It turned out that it was actually a 20-song show (even though snippets of other songs were heard during some performances) that mixed their greatest hits with some very deep album cuts.

The show opened with two deep cuts from the rarities album Toto XX followed by two from 1979’s Hydra. The latter album was one of the two most represented on the set list with the other being 1982’s Toto IV. Four songs were performed from each. Overall, the performed songs from eight of their twelve studio albums, missing tunes from Turn Back (1981), Isolation (1984), Tambu (1995) and Through the Looking Glass (2002).

The lineup for the tour is original members Steve Lukather, David Paich and Steve Porcaro along with Joseph Williams (first joined 1986), Simon Phillips (1992) and Nathan East (2010).

The set list:

Leo Sayer Shares His Thoughts on The Passing of Sly Stone

There really is a riot going on right now, so what a poignant moment it seems to be to lose a hero I never met, yet a man I often imagined as my soul brother. I worked with many of his alumni (including the man who helped invent him, fellow San Fran disk jockey Tom Donahue), and to say they and he inspired me would be a useless understatement.
