Vacations have released their new album Pursuit Of Anything, accompanied by a new video for “Lucky, Forever”.
The album is the latest chapter for the Newcastle formed band led by Campbell Burns, whose songwriting has developed from the lo-fi indie sound of Vacations’ early releases into a more expansive and polished approach.
Pursuit Of Anything follows Vacations’ previous album No Fun and continues Burns’ exploration of relationships, uncertainty and the search for meaning through a collection of songs that balance introspection with the band’s melodic indie-rock sound.
“Lucky, Forever” provides the latest visual component to the album campaign, giving the song its own identity alongside the full-length record.
Vacations first emerged from Sydney with Burns recording and releasing music independently before the project developed into a touring band. The group built an international audience through tracks including “Telephones”, “Young” and “Home”, with their music finding a particularly strong audience online and overseas.
The success of those early songs eventually took Vacations well beyond their original DIY beginnings. Burns’ songwriting has remained central to the project, while successive releases have expanded the musical palette around his distinctive vocal delivery and understated approach to melody.
With Pursuit Of Anything, Vacations continue that progression rather than attempting to recreate the sound of their earliest recordings.
The new album also arrives at a point where Vacations have established a significant audience outside Australia. Their catalogue has accumulated hundreds of millions of streams, helping turn what began as a bedroom recording project into an international touring act.
“Lucky, Forever” sits within that broader evolution. Rather than treating the song as a standalone release, the new video places it in the context of Pursuit Of Anything, reinforcing the album as the central statement of the new chapter.
For Burns, the Vacations project has always allowed the songwriting to remain flexible. The music can move between intimate, stripped-back passages and fuller arrangements without losing the conversational quality that has been a defining feature of the band’s work.
