The Rolling Stones may have a few secret warm-up gigs planned under the name The Cockroaches, which will be interesting because that was the name of The Wiggles before they became The Wiggles.

The Cockroaches featured Anthony Field and Jeff Fatt who went on to form children’s act The Wiggles. The Cockroaches played around Sydney in the mid 80s and had a number of hits in Australia including ‘She’s The One’ and ‘Some Kind Of Girl’.

The name for Australia’s The Cockroaches actually came from the Rolling Stones. The Stones used to use the name as an alias from time to time when they wanted to play secret gigs.

So interesting Ron Wood mentioned “cockroaches” when he spoke to NME.

Ron said, “There’s going to be little club gigs that we’re gonna surprise ourselves to do as well, we’ll bung a few in next week or the week after, so look out for any Cockroaches gigs or whatever! I don’t know who we’ll be billed as but we’ll turn up somewhere and put a few to the test. Tiny, 200, 300 people kind of places.”

The Rolling Stones officially have 4 shows coming up.

Dates are:

November 24 and 29, London, O2
December 13 and 15, New Jersey, The Prudential Center
