Wreckless Eric Will Tour Australia for David Roy Williams

by Paul Cashmere on August 30, 2018

in News

Wreckless Eric is coming to Australia for David Roy Williams in November.

Eric was one of the founders of England’s new wave scene on the late 70s. We were introduced to his music on the Stiff sampler ‘A Bunch Of Stiff Records’ in 1977 with the song ‘Whole Wide World’. The song has been covered by Mental As Anything, Paul Westerberg, The Proclaimers and even The Monkees.

Eric was part of Stiff Records, the label that gave us Elvis Costello, Ian Dury & The Blockheads and Lene Lovich. At one point after Stiff folded Eric was in the band Captains of Industry with two Blockheads Norman Watt-Roy and Mick Gallagher. He later covered Ian Dury’s ‘Clevor Trever’ for the Dury tribute album ‘Brand New Boots and Panties’ in 2001.

Eric released his most recent album ‘Construction Time & Demolition’ in April 2018.

Eric released his autobiography ‘A Dysfunctional Success – The Wreckless Eric Manual’ in 1998. He is working on a second book.
