Zayn Malik thinks One Direction’s new single is sick.

The 22-year-old left the boy band earlier this year to launch a solo career. His former band mates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have carried on as a four-piece and on Friday they released their first single without Zayn, Drag Me Down. The song dropped without any promotion days after Zayn revealed he had signed a record deal with RCA Records but the singer was quick to show there were no hard feelings as he congratulated them on the tune.

‘Proud of my boys the new single is sick. Big love. :) x.(sic)’ he wrote on Twitter Saturday night.

In the weeks after he shocked the world by leaving the band back in March, Zayn had a spat with Louis over social media. But his latest tweet proves that all is well again between the former band mates.

Drag Me Down headed straight to number one on iTunes in less than an hour after Liam first revealed the news of its release.

‘Bit of a surprise! Check out our new single! It’s called Drag Me Down & I hope you love it as much as we do. (sic)’ he wrote on Friday alongside a link to the track.

Niall and Louis were quick to follow suit, tweeting their supporters about how proud they were of the single.

Meanwhile Zayn has had an exciting week too, signing with RCA Records on Wednesday.

‘I guess I never explained why I left , it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA !!(sic)’ he wrote alongside a black and white image of him signing his new contract.
