This Sunday March 24 will mark the 40th anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd’s classic ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’.

Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon 40th Anniversary

To commemorate the milestone Pink Floyd and EMI Music will unite fans globally with a playback of the album at pinkfloyd.com where fans can send their thoughts and photos to create a dark side of the moon.

Starting at 00:01am GMT and for 24 hours fans can share thoughts using #DarkSide40 and watch the Floyd website as the messages combine to turn the moon dark.

‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ was originally released in the UK o March 24, 1973. It became Pink Floyd’s first number one album in the USA and spent 741 weeks on the Billboard chart between 1973 and 1988. The album has been in the UK chart for 30 or its 40 years.

Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis created the iconic prism artwork. Thorgerson has created 14 new prism designs for the 40th Anniversary that can be downloaded from Sunday. The 14 designs will piece together to create a celebratory poster.
