The Johnnys to play first Melbourne show in a decade

The Johnnys will return to the Melbourne stage for the first time in almost a decade with a show at MEMO Music Hall in St Kilda in February.

The 2019 line-up of The Johnnys is Graham Hood (bass and vocals), Slim Doherty (guitar) and Billy Pommer Jr (drums).

The Johnnys have done shows in Sydney and New Zealand last year but will head to Melbourne for the first time in a longtime to play at MEMO Music Hall for Melbourne fans.

The Johnnys formed in 1982 when Graham Hood, fresh out of The Allnighters, tried out for Hoodoo Gurus. When that didn’t happen, Hoodoo Guruus guitarist Roddy Ray’da quit the Gurus to form The Johnnys with Billy Pommer Jr. Ray’da was shortlived in the band and was replaced by Spencer P. Jones that same year who took over as lead singer.

The band signed to Mushroom Records in 1985 and had their first hit with ‘Injun Joe’.

The Johnny’s scored a second hit with ‘There’s Gonna Be Showdown’.

The Johnnys will perform at MEMO Music Hall in St Kilda on 8 February, 2019. Get tickets here.
