Nils Lofgren is without four of his prized guitars after someone stole them on Thursday night in Dallas.

Lofgren was in Dallas for just the second stop on his new solo tour after playing San Antonio on Wednesday (March 28) night. He was staying at the Holiday Inn Express in West Oak Cliff, TX with the instruments taken from a van in the parking lot.

Lofgren’s wife, Amy, was the first to alert the public to the robbery, posting a security camera pictures of the perpetrator and adding “This pig of a man stole @nilslofgren guitars . He is currently on tour in #Dallas #Texas. Three #takamini , his starburst fender strat, and his Lyon Healy lever harp. Touring is hard enough, and now this.”

Nils followed an hour later, saying “I’m am devastated by this robbery. These are my first shows out after a very difficult year. Please consider a retweet. Alas, the show must go on. @KesslerTheater it won’t be the show I was planning on. However I do plan on taking the roof off.”

WFAA’s Matt Howerton later tweeted that guitars had been found for Lofgren to use on Friday night and included a short bit of video presumably from the sound check.

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
