50 Cent On Kendrick Lamar’s Acting Debut

50 Cent was taken by surprise when Kendrick Lamar personally asked to make his acting debut portraying a homeless drug addict on hit TV show Power.

Kendrick Lamar appeared alongside 50 in the most recent season five episode of his popular crime drama series, which aired in the U.S. on Sunday, and won rave reviews from fans and critics alike for his role as Laces.

50, who also serves as a producer on Power, reveals Kendrick was the one who asked to take on the part of Laces, a request he was initially puzzled by because he didn’t think it would be very challenging.

“He was playing a guy who requires medication and is getting high… I was like, ‘This is what you pick?'” 50 recalled on daytime show The Talk.

However, Kendrick’s performance quickly won over 50 Cent, and even he has no idea how the 31-year-old made himself look like such a convincing drug fiend.

“I think he did great,” 50 continued. “His eyes was jumping and stuff (sic)… Special talents, you know, I don’t know where that one came from; I can’t make my eyes jump.”

And 50 is proud to have shared the screen with Kendrick, because they’ve been part of the same record label family at Interscope for years, a bond he believes helped to put Lamar at ease in his acting debut.

“I’ve been around him since the very beginning of his career, so it was like, he felt protected, having it be his first role and to be in the scene with me…,” he added.
