The public persona and private life of Angus Young of AC/DC are total opposites.
In this newly published in full 1992 Noise11 interview, Angus talked about the band member’s bad boy image compared to how it really is in real life.
Angus said, I always said AC/DC never had to look for trouble. It just walked up to us. I don’t think we are worthy (of being the bad boys). When we were in Europe and doing some interviews a German interviewer said to me and Malcolm, my brother, “here guys, here is a TV. Do you want to toss it out the window” and Malcolm said “what for, I’ll just take it home”.
Angus Young has been married to his wife Ellen since 1980.
“Basically, for the two hours I climb on stage I become the schoolboy but as soon as I climb off, I don’t even get in the front door if I come home like that with the horns hanging out my head. I get told wipe my feet before I come home.

AC/DC have played Melbourne 129 times to date. The first time was pre-Bon Scott, with Dave Evans as lead singer, on 15 August 1974 at Festival Hall, Melbourne. This was before the release of the debut album ‘High Voltage’ on 17 February, 1975 which FUN FACT: did not include the song ‘High Voltage’.
AC/DC’s first Melbourne show as Festival Hall was as support act to Lou Reed.
If you were there you were amongst the first people in Melbourne to hear songs that were to come from the next two albums. There were a lot of covers from Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones. The only release AC/DC had at the time was their debut single ‘Can I Sit Next To You Girl/Rocking In The Parlour’ (released 22 July, 1974). The a-side was re-recorded with Bon Scott on vocals for the second album ‘T.N.T.’
