For a third week in Australia (and New Zealand) the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper duet “Shallow” has held on to the top spot on the ARIA Singles Chart.
“Shallow” and it’s parent soundtrack ‘A Star is Born’ hold the tops of both the single and album charts for a third week, the last time that a single and its soundtrack held for this long was back in late February of 2015 when ’50 Shades of Grey’ and its lead single “Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding held the tops of both charts for three weeks too. Next week will be the ten year anniversary since Lady Gaga’s second and longest running No.1 song “Poker Face” (from 17-Nov, 2008 for 8 weeks), and with a third week at the top for “Shallow” it increases her tally of weeks at No.1 this decade to now four, moving her up to equal 25th on the list for ‘Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Singles; 2010’s’ alongside Jason DeRulo (3 No.1, 4 weeks in total), while on the list for ‘Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Singles (1940 to 2018) she moves from 74th to now equal 63rd with an overall total of 13 weeks at the summit here, putting her in equal stead with Taylor Swift (5 #1’s), Lionel Richie (3 #1’s) and Doris Day (2 #1’s). And with “Shallow” holding for a third week it’s the longest stay at No.1 for a female singer since Camil Cabello and her “Havana” track logged three weeks at the summit from the 20th of November, 2017.
Ariana Grande surprised everyone last week when she dropped a new track from a forthcoming fifth studio album (although her current album ‘Sweetener’ only came out 12 weeks ago) which is due before Christmas, and the single is also the albums title, coming in at No.2 is “thank u, next” which she sung on Ellen this past week, and the song also enters at No.1 in England and Ireland, plus No.2 in New Zealand this week too. This new entry becomes her ninth Top 10 single in Australia and her fifth Top 3 single, while also her fourth Top 10 single for 2018, plus the song debuts at No.1 on the streaming chart and comes in at No.3 on the digital singles chart.
Ariana’s high entry pushes down former No.1 “Shotgun” for George Ezra one spot to No.3, while Halsey and her latest track “Without Me” rise one spot to a new peak of No.4 and it’s newly certified Gold (●) in sales, while down two spots each are “Happier” for Marshmello with Bastille and Benny Blanco with Khalid and Halsey on “Eastside” to No.5 and No.6 respectively, while on hold at No.7 is last weeks Top 10 entry “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee. Dean Lewis drops two places to No.8 with his long running Top 10 single “Be Alright” (17 weeks within the Top 10) and down one place to No.9 is Loud Luxury and “Body”, while on hold at No.10 are Calvin Harris and Sam Smith with “Promises”, which could go back up next week as Sam started his Australian tour late last week (also he went to the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday too).
UP:
* Rita Ora is up two spots to a new peak of No.17 with her latest track “Let You Love Me”.
* Queen have now had a full week of sales since their biopic film opened and the films title track “Bohemian Rhapsody” leaps up sixty-six places to land at No.26, the song was last this high back in March of 1992 (#23) on its way down the chart after a Top 5 berth in February of that year.
* Charli XCX and Troye Sivan’s “1999” is up one spot to a new peak of No.28 thanks to Charli’s guest on the Taylor Swift tour.
* Kian is back up one spot to No.32 with his first entry “Waiting” (HP-28), which is newly certified Gold (●) in sales.
* Ava Max broke into the Top 50 last week with her first entry “Sweet But Psycho” which this week rises twelve places to a new chart height of No.33.
* Lauv is up four spots to a new peak of No.37 with “There’s No Way”.
* Two Khalid tracks are back up this week in “Ocean” with Martin Garrix (42 to 39) and “Lovely” with Billie Eilish (53 to 46).
* After three weeks of slight climbs in the lower fifty the Sheck Wes track about basket ball star “Mo Bamba” this week leaps up twenty-three spots to land at No.48.
* Thanks to her high new entry this week the older charting Ariana songs are back up, with “Breathin” up ten spots to No.49, “No Tears Left to Cry” is up thirteen places to No.70 and returning at No.93 is “God is a Woman”.
* Ed Sheeran again holds the ‘Longest Charted Single’ crown with “Shape of You” back up two to No.64 at 96 weeks.
DOWN:
* Kahlid’s track “Better” (HP-6, WI10-5) is the only one to leave the Top 10 this week, down three places to No.12, while he is also down with “Suncity” (34 to 45) and “Love Lies” (69 to 73).
* The other chart tracks from ‘A Star is Born’ dip down a little this week with “Always Remember us This Way” (12 to 13), “I’ll Never Love Again” (15 to 19), “Maybe it’s Time” (58 to 74) and leaving are “Look What I Found” (#95) and “Is That Alright?” (#96).
* “I Love it” for Lil’ Pump and Kanye West drops down six spots to No.22.
* Pink’s debut from last week in “A Million Dreams” drops back down seventeen spots this week to No.43.
* Bazzi drops nine spots to No.44 with “Beautiful”.
* Dua Lipa falls sixteen spots to No.52 with her latest entry “Kiss and Make Up”, while she is also down with Silk City on their collaboration “Electricity” (31 to 34) and with Calvin Harris on “One Kiss” (64 to 67).
* Both entries for Conrad Sewell are down this week with his older entry “Healing Hands” dropping thirteen to No.57 and last weeks debut of “Changing” slides seven spots to No.98.
* ALL three Eminem entries not only move down this week, but all three are also certified Gold (●) in sales, “Lucky You” (48 to 58), “Venom” (43 to 60) and “Killshot” (55 to 68).
* Bad Bunny with Drake on “MIA” falls twenty places to No.69, while Drake also moves down with “God’s Plan” (77 to 83), “Nonstop” (80 to 90), “No Stylist” with French Montana (76 to 97) and “Nice for What” (93 to 100).
* “No Brainer” for DJ Khaled with Justin Bieber again moves down in double digits, falling thirteen this week to No.80.
* Cardi B loses seventeen chart-rungs for her song “Money” to No.82 after it debuted last week.
* The Rubens with Sarah on “Never Ever” drops down twenty-four places to No.87.
* Jess Glynne tumbles nineteen spots to No.91 with “I’ll Be There”.
* Ella Mai falls again this week with “Trip”, falling sixteen spots to land at No.94.
* After rebounding last week The Greatest Showman lead single “This is Me” is back down ten spots to No.99.

* #75 – Better Together by Hayden James feat. Running Touch is the fourth entry for the Sydney based producer and songwriter whose last single “Just Friends” became his highest charting of his now four entries, making it to No.26 and after 27 weeks of charting leaves this week to be replaced by this new track with the Melbourne artist Running Touch.
