Black Sabbath have been announced to receive the AEG Live Ambassadors of Rock gong at this year’s O2 Silver Clef Awards on Friday 4th July.

Music legends, Black Sabbath – made up by Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi – who have been celebrating the most successful year of their career, will collect the award, sponsored by AEG Live, ahead of their headlining appearance at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park that same night.

Black Sabbath have been the guiding force in the rock world for over 4 decades and this headline show on 4th July at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park will mark yet another pinnacle of their career. In 2013, they released their latest album, ’13’ which went to number 1 around the world and they played to world audiences on a sold out tour – rumoured to be their last. They even found time to pick up the Classic Rock Roll of Honour Living Legend Award!

This is the first time that AEG Live has sponsored this much sought-after award with Nordoff Robbins. Tom Miserendino, President & CEO, AEG Europe says: ‘We are extremely proud to be sponsoring this award which highlights the massive impact Black Sabbath has had on the music world. Starting in Birmingham in 1968 and going on to conquer the world, the band really are great ambassadors for the music industry. We are equally excited about them taking over Hyde Park later that same evening following their triumphant return to live gigs last year.’

Black Sabbath will lead a huge day of rock at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park on 4th July 2014. Other major artists set to take central London by storm include Arcade Fire on 3rd July, The Libertines on 5th July, McBusted on 6th July, Neil Young 12th July and Tom Jones on 13th July.
