The new concert film captures Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance, the last appearance of Black Sabbath’s original lineup and a remarkable gathering of rock musicians at Birmingham’s Villa Park.

The final performance of Ozzy Osbourne and the original Black Sabbath lineup will come to cinemas in October, with the official trailer for OZZY & BLACK SABBATH: BACK TO THE BEGINNING now released as tickets go on sale worldwide.
The film documents the July 5, 2025 Back To The Beginning concert at Birmingham’s Villa Park, where Ozzy Osbourne performed his final show just 17 days before his death. It also captured the first performance in more than 20 years by Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward.
That timing gives the concert film an importance that could not have been anticipated when the event was staged. What was planned as a farewell to Osbourne and Black Sabbath became the final recorded performance of Osbourne’s career.
The concert was sold out, with more than three million requests made for the 44,000 tickets available. The event brought together Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Tool, Alice In Chains, Gojira, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Halestorm, Mastodon and Rival Sons, alongside a series of all-star performances assembled by musical director Tom Morello.
The 147-minute cinema release combines the concert footage with behind-the-scenes material and reflections from musicians who were influenced by Osbourne and Black Sabbath. Jason Momoa, who hosted the Birmingham event, and Morello also provide insight into the day.
Among those reflecting on the significance of the performance is Metallica’s James Hetfield, who described the opportunity to celebrate Black Sabbath as a deeply meaningful experience.
Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins recalled recognising the historical importance of the event while it was happening, while Alice In Chains bassist Mike Inez said the experience was something he expected to keep processing long after the concert had ended.
For Zakk Wylde, who has performed extensively with Osbourne, the significance was personal. “Ozzy put me on the biggest stage in the world,” Wylde said, describing the singer’s faith in him as something that had a profound impact.
The film also preserves the scale of the musical tribute. Osbourne opened the event with five songs from his solo catalogue before the original Black Sabbath lineup closed the night with four songs from the band’s catalogue.
That final Black Sabbath sequence begins with “War Pigs”, followed by “N.I.B.”, “Iron Man” and “Paranoid”. Osbourne then returned for “Mama, I’m Coming Home”, bringing the performance to its conclusion.
The wider setlist moves through Black Sabbath and Osbourne material performed by an extraordinary range of artists. Mastodon performed “Supernaut”, Rival Sons took on “Electric Funeral”, Anthrax played “Into The Void”, Halestorm performed “Perry Mason” and Tool delivered “Hand Of Doom”.
The Tom Morello’s All Stars sections provide another layer, with musicians including David Draiman, Jake E. Lee, David Ellefson, Mike Bordin, Nuno Bettencourt, Yungblud, Billy Corgan, K.K. Downing, Sammy Hagar, Vernon Reid, Travis Barker, Danny Carey, Chad Smith and Ronnie Wood appearing across the performances.
The concert also included Steven Tyler performing Aerosmith’s “The Train Kept A-Rollin'” and “Walk This Way”, Guns N’ Roses playing “Never Say Die” and Metallica performing “Hole In The Sky”.
OZZY & BLACK SABBATH: BACK TO THE BEGINNING is directed for screen by Ben Wainwright-Pearce, with the live concert directed by Tim van Someren. Jim Parsons, Jamie Silk and Dan Seliger produced the film.
The cinema presentation will use Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound, allowing the performances to be experienced in a format designed specifically for the big screen.
The film opens worldwide on October 28 for a limited cinema run.
