BREAKING NEWS: Phil Rudd Avoids Jail Time And Given Home Detention

by Paul Cashmere on July 9, 2015

in News

Phil Rudd has avoided jail time but has been sentenced to eight months home detention after being charged with threatening to kill and possession of banned substances.

He arrived on time at the Tauranga District Court but did not talk to waiting media.

Although Rudd has pleaded guilty his lawyer Craig Tuck argued for a discharge based on the million of dollars in lost income a conviction would incur for the AC/DC drummer. Judge Thomas Ingram said there is no evidence that AC/DC wanted him back.

Rudd appears on the latest AC/DC album ‘Rock Or Bust’ but has been unable to perform on the current tour. AC/DC replaced him with Chris Slade, the drummer who was with the band while Rudd was absent for a 10-year period across the 80s and 90s.
