David Byrne To Be Honored At Music Of Concert for Music Education

David Byrne will be honored to benefit music education.

For the twelfth year, Michael Dorf, founder of City Winery, will present a tribute to the music of an artist at Carnegie Hall.

This year’s honoree will be David Byrne and Talking Heads with the show scheduled for March 23.

While the acts who perform Byrne and Talking Heads songs is still being set, the following have already been announced:

Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction)

Among the beneficiaries of the annual show include Little Kids Rock, the Church Street School of Music, Midori & Friends and The Center For Arts Education.

Byrne's shows have long been known for their sprawling casts, precision choreography and inventive use of non-traditional instrumentation. From Stop Making Sense through to American Utopia, the artistic director in him has always demanded more space, more movement and more sonic experimentation. Yet, remarkably, his Tiny Desk appearance proved that even a dozen musicians playing everything from marimba and cello to timbau and zabumba can still operate with Byrne's trademark clarity, humour and discipline.
