The Eagles have been working on their definitive history documentary for the past with director Alison Ellwood and producer Alex Gibney.

“For the last 5 years, and intensely this past year, we have been putting together this document of our history with Alex and Alison, who have contributed their incredible talents to help us tell our story,” said Glenn Frey of the Eagles. “We’re all very pleased with the progress so far, and are excited to see the finished product at Sundance.”

The movie tells the story of the band from its inception in the early 1970s to break-up in 1980. Interviews were conducted with the current and past members and people involved with the band. It also features previously unreleased footage from a 1977 Hotel California concert.

‘History of the Eagles Part 1’ will premiere at the Eccles Theater in Park City, Utah during Sundance on January 19, 2013.
