The British singer-songwriter – whose hit The A Team missed out on the Song of the Year accolade – gave a triumphant performance of the track alongside Elton at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

The pair’s much-anticipated duet was met with rapturous applause, and Ed took to Twitter after his big night to gush about his time amongst music’s finest artists.

“Met some pretty cool people tonight, bit mad to be sat at the front!” he wrote, before later adding: “So much fun playing my song with Sir Elton too, will not forget that!! (sic).”

Justin Timberlake made a triumphant return to music at the prestigious event, taking to the stage with Jay-Z to perform new single Suit & Tie.

The 32-year-old singer gave a show-stopping performance, backed by a big band and showing off his famous dance moves dressed in a dapper black Tom Ford suit.

Ed gushed about Justin’s show-stopping performance, writing: “Just watched Justin timberlake live, absolutely incredible, One of the best shows I’ve ever seen (sic).”

Taylor Swift also took to the social networking site after the Grammys to show off her award for best song written for visual media with Safe & Sound.

The country songstress posted a picture of her holding her Grammy Award with the accompanying caption: “Look what happened. :) (sic).”

Taylor also teased fans with a picture of a cat lying on her bed after retiring to her hotel room.

“Video shoot early tomorrow, so my Grammy after-party situation looks like…….. (sic),” she quipped.
