Ed Sheeran appears to have revealed the title to his second album album, the follow-up to the multiplatinum ‘+’.

The 22-year-old singer has been working with producer Rick Rubin on a follow-up to his 2011 debut, +. “My second album has taken shape recently,” Sheeran told Noise11.com. He admitted in the 2013 that he had the title very early into recording. “I probably shouldn’t say it because their should be some sort of reveal at some point.” However he did tell Noise11 that “it doesn’t start with a letter”.

And fans are now abuzz Ed has decided on an equally simple title for the second album, after tweeting ‘=’ on Monday.

“@edsheeran: =” PLS BE NEW ALBUM NAME,” one of his more than eight million followers responded, reports MTV News.

At press time, Ed had yet to say more about the mysterious tweet.

The English pop star recently opened up about the challenge of choosing tracks for the record, and credited Rick Rubin with breathing life into the project.

“He re-energised me to be excited about the album again,’ Ed told BBC Radio 1”s Zane Lowe earlier this month.

“[It was] coming at the songs from a different direction and making sure they had the live vibe as well as the actual song craft.”

Ed recently announced a UK arena tour for October 2014.

He will play 12 shows in total, kickstarting in Dublin on October 6 and wrapping up the trek in Glasgow on October 30.
