Ed Sheeran Replaces Justin Bieber At Festival

Ed Sheeran has replaced Justin Bieber at UK festival Fusion, it has been confirmed.

Bieber disappointed his British fans earlier this week when he was forced to pull out of the concert in Birmingham due to ‘an unforeseen issue’. But on Thursday festival goers were delighted to learn that Thinking Out Loud singer Ed has agreed to fill the empty headlining slot.

‘I’ve been in this business a long time and it nearly brought me to tears,” organiser Mike Owen said, according to BBC News.

“It was just a moment of sheer excitement. The most-streamed artist in the world last year and he’s going to come and do Fusion in Birmingham. There was a lot of concerns, a lot of phone calls but Ed Sheeran himself kind of came forward out of a little group of conversations with people and said, ‘I’ll do it.’ It was absolutely breathtaking for us. It was just astonishing. What a wonderful man.”

The Fusion festival supports the Prince’s Trust, a charity founded by Prince Charles which works with young people to train, motivate and inspire them.

On Tuesday, Justin spoke of his disappointment at not being able to perform in support of the organisation.

‘To all my UK Beliebers…due to an unforeseen issue I will be unable to perform at the Fusion Festival on August 28th,’ he wrote on Twitter. ‘I support the Prince’s Trust wholeheartedly and I am deeply disappointed I won’t be able to perform. I look forward to the opportunity to give my UK Beliebers a great show in the near future, and hope to honor my commitment to the Prince’s Trust at that time. (sic)’

Meanwhile Ed took to Twitter to confirm his participation in the event.

‘I know I said Wembley was my last UK show of this tour but my mate had a cancellation on his festival so I’m filling in last minute,’ he wrote. ‘It’s called Fusion fest, it’s in Birmingham, and it’s on the 28th of August, this is the last booked UK show of the X tour. No more after (sic).’
