Ed Sheeran wants to be bigger than Robbie Williams.

The 24-year-old is a star in his own right, with his last album, x, peaking at number one in both the UK and US charts.

While that would be enough for many, the redheaded singer is now setting his sights even higher. Ed wants to play at the legendary Knebworth venue in Herts, where Robbie sold an amazing 400,000 tickets for his three shows in 2003.

“Knebworth is 125,000 [people] and Robbie has the record for doing three. So that’s the next thing,” he explained to British newspaper The Sun.

Other huge acts to play at Knebworth include The Rolling Stones and Oasis.

It doesn’t seem out of reach for Ed, who sold out three nights at Wembley Stadium last month, which amounted to an impressive 240,000 fans.

Ed really got people’s attention in 2010, when he released hit single The A Team. From there, his career soared and the 2011 album that spawned his breakout single, +, selling more than 102,000 copies in its first week in the UK.

Things have been on the up ever since, which comes as a surprise for Ed, who thought his career might flat line after that original burst of success.

‘I thought + was my big album and I’d plateau from there. Now that this one has exceeded everyone’s expectations, the pressure is on,” he admitted.

There is no news when the next album will drop yet, but fans will surely be eagerly anticipating his third offering.
