The British Grammy-nominated singer-and-songwriter is a huge fan of getting inked.

Apparently one of Ed’s collection of tattoos is a copy of French artist Matisse’s sketch of a mother holding a baby on his forearm.

The musician is also said to have a phoenix on his arm and he recently added a King Arthur tattoo to his hand, which was etched on by tattooist Kevin Paul.

The King Arthur piece upset his mother apparently, as Ed vowed not to get any more tattoos on his hand.
Recently he hasn’t been sharing his skin art as much.

‘Ed’s keeping his new tattoos under wraps and hasn’t really been showing them off as they’re quite dramatic,’ a source told British newspaper The Sun.

‘He fell in love with the Matisse image because he found it comforting, and he loves the myth of the phoenix rising from the flames as it gives him hope when he looks at it.’

Ed is preparing to perform with Elton John at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 10.
He has spoken recently about his excitement over the duet.

“I can’t wait to kind of just be involved in the whole thing. Just to be going is an honour, but to be nominated and performing is nuts,” he told MTV News.

Ed’s tune The A Team has a Song of the Year nod at this year’s ceremony.
