First Look At Rami Malek As Freddie Mercury In Queen Biopic

The movie won’t be released until a year from this coming Christmas but the internet is all wound up in the first picture of Remi Malek as Freddie Mercury.

Malek was the eventual winner in a multi-year jumbled search for an actor to play the honoured singer. The main contender was Sacha Baron Cohen but, when he tried to take too much control of the portrayal, he parted ways with Brian May and Roger Taylor who ultimately had control of the film.

The pair eventually settled on Malek who has been acting for over a decade but most recently found fame in the USA series Mr Robot.

Bryan Singer (the X-Men films) has been tapped to direct and others attached to the film include Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon, Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor and Gwilym Lee as Brian May.

Entertainment Weekly’s EW.com debuted the photo.

The Damned released the first ever UK punk single, “New Rose” off album Damned, Damned, Damned, in 1976, and were often overshadowed by their English punk counterparts. Now in their late sixties and still touring world-wide, featuring the original line up of Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Rat Scabies and Paul Gray, they are the ones having the last laugh and have left their old rivals for dead, in certain respects, quite literally!
