Ian Molly Meldrum turned 66-years old today (January 29), quite a milestone considering we nearly lost the music guru in December.

Molly will spend the day at the Epworth Hospital in Melbourne continuing the recovery from his horrific accident when he fell off a ladder while hanging Christmas decorations seven weeks ago.

Ian is doing as well as can be expected, considering the injuries, and is starting to regain his speech and has limited mobility in his hospital room. However, his recovery period could be at least 12 months.

Operations to date on the Countdown star have been successful. He has had his broken collar-bone and ribs repaired and doctors continue to treat and monitor his fractured skull and swelling to the brain since the horrendous fall.

Doctors are confident that Ian will eventually have a full recovery but right now it is one step at a time.

Happy Birthday Molly.
