Husky Gawenda of Husky is one of eight songwriters to win an APRA Professional Development Award.

The Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) has today announced the recipients of the 2013 Professional Development Awards, who have each just received a prize package worth $30,000 to help boost their careers along.

The 2013 APRA PDA recipients are:
POPULAR CONTEMPORARY – Husky Gawenda, Georgi Kay and Thomas Calder
COUNTRY – Morgan Evans
ABORIGINAL TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER – Leah Flanagan
JAZZ – Matthew Sheens
FILM & TELEVISION – Joe Twist
CLASSICAL – Alexander Garsden

Amali Ward has received the STEPHEN SCHWARTZ SONGWRITING AWARD presented in conjunction with UTAS (University of Tasmania) and APRA. She receives a development grant worth $10,000.
