Icehouse will mark the 40th anniversary of Man of Colours with its first Australian headline indoor concert tour in more than 20 years, performing the landmark 1987 album in full for the first time. The six-date national tour will begin at Newcastle Entertainment Centre on 5 June 2027 and conclude at Perth’s RAC Arena on 10 July.

The announcement comes as Icehouse prepares for two upcoming outdoor performances, Night at the Parkland in Brisbane on 18 September and Live at the Fleet Steps overlooking Sydney Harbour on 30 September. The 2027 concerts will represent a different format for the band, with seated indoor shows allowing Icehouse to expand the setlist around one of its most significant albums.

Iva Davies, Icehouse’s frontman and principal creative force, said the band had never performed several of the Man of Colours songs live.

“The band and I are excited to be celebrating the Man of Colours anniversary with you all,” Davies said. “We’ve never played some of the songs from the album so this tour is going to include some firsts for us as well as our fans.”

Davies said the indoor setting would also change the scale of the performance.

“Compared to the big outdoor shows we’ve mainly been playing over the past 15 years, indoors means we get to play more songs and create an even bigger show for us all,” he said.

Released in Australia on 21 September 1987, Man of Colours became the commercial peak of Icehouse’s career. The fifth studio album spent 11 weeks at No. 1 on the Australian chart and also topped the New Zealand album chart. It produced five Australian Top 30 singles, including “Crazy”, “Electric Blue”, “My Obsession”, “Man of Colours” and “Nothing Too Serious”.

The album also extended Icehouse’s international reach. “Electric Blue”, co-written by Davies and John Oates of Hall & Oates, became Icehouse’s only Australian No. 1 single and reached No. 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100. “Crazy” reached No. 14 in the US. Man of Colours itself peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard 200.

The album earned Icehouse two ARIA Awards in 1988, winning Album of the Year and Highest Selling Album. “Electric Blue” also received recognition at the APRA Music Awards, where Davies and Oates were honoured as its writers.

Four decades later, songs from Man of Colours remain central to the Icehouse live repertoire. The new tour will place the complete album at its centre, including tracks that have not previously been performed by the band in concert.

The broader set will draw from Icehouse’s catalogue, including “Great Southern Land”, “Hey Little Girl”, “No Promises”, “Don’t Believe Anymore”, “Love In Motion” and “We Can Get Together”.

Icehouse has recorded and toured for more than 45 years, with Davies leading the band through multiple eras and line-ups. The group’s catalogue has generated more than 30 Top 40 singles and eight Top 10 albums, while the supplied tour announcement puts worldwide album sales at more than nine million.

For the 2027 shows, special guests will be announced at a later date. Tickets will be available through the Ticketek Entertainment Group from 11am local time on Friday, 18 September 2026, with Icehouse Fan Club and PayPal presales beginning at 11am on Wednesday, 16 September. A limited number of $99.90 tickets will be distributed across the best seating sections at each arena.

Davies described the concerts as a celebration of the album and the audience that has remained connected to it since 1987.

“These are going to be very, very special shows in celebration of our best-known album, its songs and the fans who’ve made it a part of their lives over the past 40 years,” he said.
