Jeff Martin To Form Aussie Supergroup In 2015

by Paul Cashmere on August 20, 2014

in Live,News

Jeff Martin of The Tea Party will put together a “supergroup” in Australia in 2015, following The Tea Party’s Aussie tour.

“It is a collaboration between myself, Sarah McLeod and Mick Skelton the drummer from the Baby Animals,” Jeff tells Noise11.com. “We are going to be putting out something next year that I guarantee is going to turn a lot of heads”.

The Tea Party will tour Australia with The Superjesus.

Martin and McLeod have become close friends since Jeff moved to Australia. Martin invited McLeod to put her old band The Superjesus back together and tour with The Tea Party. “She is family now for me,” Jeff says. “She is like my little sister. I just love her spirit. There is only one Sarah McLeod, that is for sure. As far as rock and roll in a female I don’t think you can get any harder than that. I love her to bits and I am happy for her and The Superjesus to get that opportunity to play in front of a Tea Party audience, to be playing in front of an audience that loves all types of music”.

Sammy Hagar’s New Live Album Features Rai Thistlethwayte of Thirsty Merc

Sammy Hagar has always had a reputation for surrounding himself with powerhouse players, but his upcoming live album, Sammy Hagar & The Best Of All Worlds Band – The Residency (out October 10, 2025 via Big Machine Rock), brings a distinctly Australian twist. On keyboards, vocals and guitar is Rai Thistlethwayte, best known at home for fronting Thirsty Merc and more recently as a member of The Fabulous Caprettos. For Australian fans, the inclusion of Thistlethwayte in Hagar’s latest chapter is a striking reminder of how far the Sydney-born musician’s career has travelled.
