Joe Henry Australian Dates Announced

Singer/songwriter Joe Henry will return to Australia in September for dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and one in regional Victoria.

Henry has released 12 studio albums and won a Grammy as a producer of Solomon Burke’s ‘Don’t Give Up On Me’ album in 2006.

Joe is married to Madonna’s sister Melanie Ciccone and has had a number of songs recorded by his famous relative. Madonna covered his song ‘Stop’ as ‘Don’t Tell Me’ on her 2000 album ‘Music’. He also co-wrote ‘Jump’ on ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’, ‘Devil You Wouldn’t ‘Recognize’ on ‘Hard Candy’ and ‘Falling Free’ on ‘MDNA’.

Joe produced ‘Slipstream’ for Bonnie Raitt, ‘Let Them Talk’ for Hugh Laurie, ‘Tooth & Nail’ for Billy Bragg, ‘Recovery’ for Loudon Wainwright III and ‘The River In Reverse’ for Allen Toussaint and Elvis Costello. He was also listed as Production Associate for Spinal Tap.

His most recent album ‘Invisible Hour’ will be released in August.

The blue-coloured- light drenched the stage, signifying the trademark colour of Rising. Beth Gibbons is here as part of Rising festival to showcase her solo album, Lives Outgrown, with a seven- piece band of musicians. Gibbons last toured Melbourne 15 years ago with proponents of trip hop, Portishead, appearing at Harvest Festival. There she was bathed in the golden afternoon rays of sunlight, but now she’s obscured by stage lights in alternating hues. Her musicians are backlit and positioned either side of the stage in groups of three and the keyboardist is in the centre behind Gibbons.
