Johnny Marr Cancels US Tour

Johnny Marr has cancelled the last ten dates of his North American tour due to a “serious close family illness” but Australian dates are unaffected.

Marr had already cancelled three shows in Victoria, BC, Vancouver, BC and Seattle, WA before making the decision to pull the plug on the rest of the tour.

The former Smith’s guitarist apologized to fans on his website:

I’m really disappointed to not be able to play the shows. The touring has been so enjoyable for me and the band and the audiences have been great everywhere. If it was about just me being unwell I would’ve found a way to continue as I did when I broke my hand earlier in the year, but to not be there for one of my family is not right. Thank you to everyone for the kind messages. See you soon. Johnny. x

Marr and his management hope to reschedule all of the dates but refunds will still be made available to those that want them.

The cancelled dates:

12/06 – Victoria, BC – Sugar Nightclub
12/07 – Vancouver, BC – Commodore Ballroom
12/08 – Seattle, WA – Neumos
12/10 – Portland, OR – Wonder Ballroom
12/11 – Eugene, OR – Wow Hall
12/12 – Sacramento, CA – Ace of Spades
12/14 – San Francisco, CA – Independent
12/15 – San Francisco, CA – Independent
12/16 – Pomona, CA – Glass House
12/18 – Solona Beach, CA – Belly Up Tavern
12/19 – Los Angeles, CA – El Rey Theatre
12/20 – Los Angeles, CA – El Rey Theatre

Marr is scheduled to return to the stage on January 26 in Tokyo and will then tour Australia for Frontier Touring.
